Online/chat opportunities

Andrea and I have discussed online teen book clubs. I have done online courses and can see that with a program like WEB CT/IM this could be done.

Eventually, I would like to see IM reference. A couple of ladies from courses I have taken have participated in this service. They were mostly from the states. They do say that the kids truly take the instant messaging for instant messaging and want automatic replies.

I think this would be a great way to give the customers what they want. "Ask a teacher" run by TVo is a good example but still needs refining. They are meeting the needs of students.

I see a virtual branch, in the future.

Hi Catherine:

Yes- I agree. Of all the 2.0 applications IM is certainly the most condusive to reference serivces.

It's actuallly far easier than blogging -really.

Also, meebo makes it much easier because it accesses a variety of messenger providers. E.g. if a customer is using Yahoo, MSN, AIM, or others I'm pretty sure you can see them all....
I'll have to test it out.
Anyway - we could just stick that meebo widget up on our website and voila!

The thing is there are too many cooks in the kitchen. the ESG has been talking about this, we're talking about this.....so who is actually going to own this project?
It really is - I'm sure quite simple fo us to set up.

bye for now

Hi, Meg:

I hope LA's would get to do IM reference as well. ASKMPL is a good start but not making the grade. I love askmpl and I do get different types of questions but most are directional.

I would like a challenge.
